Sepal Amarasinghe signals public apology to Buddhist community

Sepal Amarasinghe, the YouTuber who was recently arrested over his comments about the Sri Dhalanda Maligawa, has been further remanded.

When he was produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (Jan. 31), he was ordered to continue to keep him in remand custody until February 14.

His lawyer told Daily mirror, that he is ready to deliver a public apology to the Buddhist community living all over the world. 

In a letter addressed to the Mahanayake Thero of the Asgiriya Chapter most venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thera, Attorney-at-law Darshana Kuruppu said his client is ready for a public apology if his client’s remarks hurt the sentiments of Buddhist monks and Buddhist community living all over the world.

Attorney-at-law Darshana Kuruppu stated that his client has given instructions to state that he had no intention whatsoever to defame the Buddhist philosophy or the Temple of the Tooth Relic.
