Ten senior officers of Sri Lanka Police, including two Senior Deputy Inspector Generals (SDIGs), left for Russia yesterday (23) for a two-week special training on fighting organized crime.

Assistant Superintendent of Police of Criminal Investigation Department Merrill Ranjan Kalkahewa , Presidential Security Division Assistant Superintendent of Police Guruge , Senior DIG in charge of North Western Province Lalith Pathinayake, Senior DIG in charge of North Central Province Rajitha Sri Daminda, DIG of Galle Ujith N. Liyanage, Head of Police Headquarters Administration Division DIG Samantha De Silva, Head of Police Intelligence DIG Jagath C. Dhanapala, Training Recruitment DIG Sampath Kumar, Women DIG in charge of Welfare Section W.J. Padmini as well as Director of Planning of IGP Secretariat Kamini Senaratne and Senior Superintendent of Police Kamini Senaratne haves left for Russia.

The police headquarters stated that Sri Lanka has received five such training workshops from Russia and in the future, teams of 10 senior officers each are going to go to Russia for training.
