Cabral’s travel ban extended

Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela issued an order on October 26 to extend the foreign travel ban imposed on former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabral until November 24.

The relevant complaint was filed saying that the country became bankrupt after paying 550 million US dollars taken from sovereign bonds in early 2022.

The Additional Magistrate had given bail to Mr. Ajith Nivard Kabral on two sureties of Rs 10 lakhs each.

The lawyers appearing for Mr. Cabral requested the court to reject the case as the plaintiff has filed this case without reasonable cause. The court informed that both parties should file their objections on the 24th of next month.
