130 SriLanka Airlines flights have stopped at Thiruvananthapuram for refuelling Thiruvananthapuram airport since may, ever since the nation’s fuel shortage went out of control.
The stopovers have helped the airport earn around Rs 1.5 crore in landing fees alone. This excludes refueling revenue.
According to the reports, it has been mentioned that 04 planes landed at the airport to refuel in the same manner last Saturday.
Sri Lanka has been battling a severe fuel shortage amid its worst economic crisis in seven decades.
With this, the total number of flights that had a stopover at Thiruvananthapuram airport touched 208. most are flights of Sri Lankan Airlines. As many as 130 Sri Lanka Airlines flights have stopped at Thiruvananthapuram for refueling so far.
Other airlines include Fly Dubai, Oman Air, Gulf Air, Air Arabia, Emirates and Fits Voyage flying to various destinations.
